CertificationThree types of certificates distinguish in the timber business (Download also the explanation slides in the column on the right):
Forest certificates ensure that the forest is legally, sustainably and/ or well managed. Timber from these forests is called certified timber. Acknowledged certification schemes are e.g. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), SFI (Sustainable Forest Initiative), PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification), TLTV (Timber Legality and Traceability Verification) or OLB (Origine et Legalité du Bois).
Chain of Custody (CoC) certificates authorizes to buy, manufacture and sell certified timber products originating from certified forests. CoC ensures correct accounting of certified timber and is therefore certified by independent inspection companies. The Danzer Group companies have obtained CoC certificates. |
